Kanpur violence: 3 FIRs registered, 500 booked as cops stay alert

The Uttar Pradesh Law enforcement Saturday booked 500 persons for rioting and violence in Kanpur that left 40 hurt, official stated, as an uneasy tranquil prevailed in the affected areas this early morning.

Extra Commissioner of Police (Law and buy) Anand Prakash Tiwari mentioned 18 individuals have been arrested so far more than the Friday incident, and some other folks are detained for questioning.

“The location is peaceful and we are maintaining a spherical-the-clock vigil,” he said, incorporating some suspects had been detained overnight by diverse police teams.

The violence broke out in Pared, Nai Sadak and Yateemkhana areas of the city just after Friday namaz when some folks attempted to power shopkeepers to down shutters over allegedly insulting remarks created by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma during a Tv set discussion not too long ago, a senior police official had explained Friday.

Further Director General (Legislation and Order) Prashant Kumar has warned that people associated will be booked below the stringent Gangsters Act and their homes seized or demolished.
