LegalZoom Launches Online Accounting Solution for Solopreneurs

LegalZoom has launched an online accounting solution designed specifically for solopreneurs.

The new LZ Books was built to help these emerging entrepreneurs manage their books, secure new work and better prepare for tax time, LegalZoom said in a Thursday (Aug. 3) press release.

“LZ Books is a significant step forward in our mission to ‘Unleash Entrepreneurship,’” LegalZoom CEO Dan Wernikoff said in the release. “Our expanded service offerings now provide a one-stop solution, from business formation to financial management, ensuring small business owners can rely on us as their go-to legal and accounting advisor.”

LZ Books provides solopreneurs with a simple, automated accounting offering complete with the ability to send custom-branded proposals and invoices, receive payments 24/7 from clients, link bank accounts for automated income and expense categorization, and access month-over-month cash flow trends, according to the press release.

In addition, by utilizing the LZ Books platform, solopreneurs will be in a better position come tax season the release said. Those who have an LZ Tax plan can have their data seamlessly transferred to an LZ Tax expert for more savings and advising.

LegalZoom focuses on the small business formation market, and LZ Book complements its full-ecosystem solution for the 33.2 million small businesses across the United States, per the release.

Designed to be accessible, LZ Books offers a 30-day free trial, followed by an opt-in plan of $9.99 per month, according to the press release. Plus, for a limited time, customers also get unlimited access to a CPA.

“We are proud to lead the market with this innovative, affordable platform that supports entrepreneurs throughout their business journey,” Wernikoff said in the release.

As PYMNTS has reported, the rise of mega-platforms like Uber created space for a new ecosystem of gig workers. This shift has massive implications for the labor market and regulations, as well as the strategies that everyday professionals use to manage their own funds.

Beyond that, the proliferation of the gig economy has opened up swaths of new career avenues for those professionals that reach beyond those mega-platforms. It has created a new generation of solopreneur that blurs the line between the independent contractor or gig worker and the small to medium-sized business (SMB).
